Fellowship at Middlebury College, Vermont, USA. (June 2026)

I will take part in the two-week Scholarship in Sound & Image: Workshop on Videographic Criticism: https://sites.middlebury.edu/videoworkshop/what-is-videographic-criticism/

I am excited to be working with original film footage and ephemera directly from the Nita Harvey Archive, and specifically the (digitised) Pre-Code Hollywood film Nita featured in, Search for Beauty (1934 (below). In the workshop, I will be engaging with contemporary film theory and current critical debates along with training in film editing, essential to the methodological integrity of the Nita Harvey Archive Project and in producing a new artist film.

In 1933, Nita won the English title in the Paramount Search for Beauty competition and a contract with Paramount, who shipped her from London to Hollywood to appear in the film and make her a ‘Paramount property’. You can see Nita in the original film poster below (4th from left).
